Ginormous Blanket

March 18, 2014

ok, ok…I know my last post was about how spring was around the corner, but today all I want to do is cozy up on the couch under this GINORMOUS blanket and watch movies and knit.  So I’m still gonna post this pattern, and if we don’t have any more cool weather between now and next fall, then you will all least be ready for it with this project.

Big Cozy Blanket

Ginormous Blanket

You all know how much we LOVE the country roving by Briggs and Little, especially when playing around with it and making beautiful things like this, it also knits up so fast when you use some big needles. This is our newest project – the Ginormous blanket.  Nicola knit this and designed it, and will be putting a free pattern up on Ravelry soon, but in the meantime; She used 25mm circular needles, and held 4 balls of the country roving together, she cast on 45 stitches and then  knit 5, purl 5 – and repeat!  She used 8 balls of the country roving in total!

We have fantastic colours to choose from, and you can knit up a blanket in a few evenings!

It knit up in about 3 hours. So easy, so mindless – my kind of knitting. 🙂 Just a point of clarification for those who are super literal like me – 1st row is K5, P5. 2nd row is P5, K5. Repeat pattern.

I made this for my friend and she loves it. She’s going to keep it in her travel trailer, for those camping nights when it gets chilly.
