Purple Hat Knit-A-Thon This Sunday!

September 23, 2015

Join us this Sunday, September 27th to continue on Baaad Anna’s tradition of joining the Click for Babies: Purple Cap Campaign in support of Prevent Shaken Baby Syndrome BC at BC Children’s Hospital. Come by and knit or crochet an infant hat, drop off any infant-sized purple hats you have crafted anytime this week (up to Wed. Sept 30th), or donate any purple yarn that others can use to for this charity knitting.

Here is my collection of purple hats that I knit last year for this campaign (whose goal is to give out a purple hat to every infant born in British Columbia in the month of November)…

From the Click for Babies to website:

Donate a cap to raise awareness about normal infant crying and the dangers of shaking. The cap you donate will go home with parents at the birth of their baby to serve as a reminder about the period of early increased crying all babies go through, how to cope with that crying, and the dangers of shaking an infant.

There will be purple yarn to knit with (just bring your needles and a pattern), as well as treats and discounts for all knit-a-thon’ers. Drop in for an hour or all day, 11am-6pm!

On the purple theme, one of our lovely regulars dropped by to share this gorgeous shawl knit with two shades of Sweet Georgia’s Tough Love Sock in purples…

This double-knit pattern called Thin Edge of the Wedge by Shui Kuen Kozinski creates an eye-catching optical effect of multiple shades of purple from holding two strands double. This pattern can be found on Ravelry, and we have just stocked up on more gorgeous shades of Tough Love Sock for all your fingering-weight knitting needs!

Thanks for sharing your gorgeous creation!
