Paula Lindner – owner

IMG_3403

Paula took ownership from Baaad Anna in April 2015 and has been in knit heaven ever since! Having knit for over ten years learning from friends and family, she values the community that comes with this skill set. Building on the amazing foundation that Anna laid, Paula aims to continue the creation of a space where people could come together and learn from each other, and have a sense of community while crafting, creating and conspiring!

Paula bikes from the Renfrew Heights neighbourhood just up the street from the store, raising two little humans and two mischievous cats alongside a very patient and supportive partner.

Charlotte A. – co-manager

IMG_4568Charlotte began knitting in 2008 and since then it has become her preferred hobby because of it’s portability. After taking 2 years to complete her first scarf, she moved on to making cowls in the round and then caught the knitting bug. Though she learned English style initially, she quickly switched to combination Continental as she found it much faster. Since then she has tackled lace knitting, cables and is starting to learn faire isle. She prefers to knit things two at a time wherever possible and uses circular needles for everything. Most recently she has taken up spinning and enjoys using both a drop spindle and the wheel. When not working with fiber she can be found hiking or snowshoeing up mountains, birdwatching, and sometimes doing science.

Sarah L. – co-manager

Spain 360

Sarah has worked at Baaad Anna’s since summer 2015. She is a knitter, crocheter and crafter. Sarah loves to travel and drag her husband to foreign yarn stores. When not at the store Sarah can be found hanging out with cats at parties and causing trouble with her sister, husband and cat.

Sarah P. – staff

index

Sarah joined the staff of Baaad Anna’s in September 2015. Her main knitting passion is socks, particularly of the self-striping variety. She learned to knit at a young age, but preferred crocheting until a few years ago, when she fell in love with the smooth texture of knitting. As a person steeped in creativity, knitting has become an important creative outlet in partnership with her developing painting practice.

When not knitting you can find her in the kitchen concocting a new artisan bread or creating a breakfast experience for her friend and family. She lives in the neighbourhood with her husband and little boy, and enjoys walking the Sunrise area with them.

Barth S. – staff

Equinox cap - tapestry crochet

Barth joined Baaad Anna’s staff in May 2016. He discovered knitting ten years ago, after his friend promised it would be more productive than fidgeting or pacing. (I know right?) Since starting this adventure, he enjoys a variety of projects—sweaters, shawls, hats, gloves—using many techniques—fair isle, entrelac, or lace. But he has knit dozens of socks because you can never have too many socks. Last year, he practiced a lot of tapestry crochet to complete an Equinox cap that his friend designed.

If not crafting or writing, you might find him biking around Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood, or he might have stopped to ask for your opinion on the latest thing that he has read—science, or political, or literary.

Laura W. – seasonal staff

Laura is a generational knitter from the North Shore, learning from her Grandmother when very young. An avid knitting podcast watcher she loves learning about new independent dyers, techniques and fun projects! She would get more WIPS done (works in progress) if she could get off Ravelry and Instgram where she dreams of her next projects. She is eager to hear about your next project, so stop by and let her help enable your knitting knowledge and your stash!

Yes absolutely. We are right on the bus route for any bus that runs east along Hastings Street. It goes through some colourful neighbourhoods but it is safe and is served by frequent bus service. You can ask the bus driver to let you off at the Slocan St bus stop and we are just kiddie corner (and a few stores down) from where the bus drops you off. Additionally there is a great local coffee shop nearby, a gourmet olive oil dispensary, some fun vintage stores and many tasty & affordable food choices in the neighbourhood. Happy travels!

Hi. Realize I should have bought one more skein of Noro Silk Garden (colour 269, Lot J). May I ask you to hold it for me? I don’t live near the shop but will come by next Wednesday to pick it up. If it helps, I can pay through my credit card first.
